Dear oh deary me, what a year its been for North American Music so far... I've put together a list of my favourite Canadian/American albums of 2009 in a very loose order: Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest Japandroids - Post Nothing Sonic Youth - The Eternal The Antlers - Hospice City Center - City Center The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - S/T Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer Dan Deacon - Bromst Cymbals Eat Guitars - Why There are Mountains Andrew Bird - Noble Beast Junior Boys - Begone Dull Care Plus still to come we have the new Mount Eerie, Circulatory System, The Most Serene Republic, Paul Banks Solo Project, a new Pixies release (maybe), Bowerbirds (I've had a listen - excellent), Yo La Tengo, Wilco (had a listen - not so excellent), HEALTH, Built to Spill, Broken Social Scene (maybe), YACHT and probably heaps more I've forgotten. At the moment though I'm listening to a band called Ducktails who have just recorded their self titled album. It's boogtashingly good. Here's what it looks like: Hugh. xx
